Every now and then, a beauty product launch hits our inbox that makes us do the double-take of all double-takes. Today, it came from Fazit Beauty, which just launched star-shaped patches made to stick to dogs’ fur.
You probably know Fazit as the brand behind the viral glitter freckle patches Taylor Swift wore, which promptly sold out. The moment pushed the small, woman-owned brand past $1 million in sales and turned it into a certified pop-culture phenomenon.
Now, enter Fazit Pets, unveiled today in an adorable Instagram post featuring canine models wearing the patches. They come in three versions: sprinkled, gold and silver.
“I’m an animal person, so my entire feed is filled with pets, and I’ve seen people do everything from dyeing dogs to look like zebras to putting glitter on horses’ hooves,” says Fazit’s cofounder Nina LaBruna. “I kept thinking there had to be an easier, more playful way to express your love for your pet.”
Here's how it works: You place a patch sticky-side down where your dog’s fur lies flat, such as an ear, the chest or a hip. Dab it with a damp cloth for 60 seconds, then peel away the backing. According to the brand, the patches are waterproof, last up to a week and can be removed gently with conditioner and a comb. A pack of four costs $16, but you can save by buying packs of eight, 12 or 16.
Fazit says the patches are pet-safe and non-toxic, with their safety verified by a veterinary professional. They’re made for fur only, so there’s no paint or dye involved. The brand also advises against pulling a patch off. Instead, work conditioner into the fur and use a comb to remove it gently when you’re ready for a different look.
The timing of this launch isn't random (though we’d be just as pleased if it were). It lands right in the middle of National Dog Week (September 20–26), with Fazit teaming up with the Animal Medical Center of New York and donating $1 from every pack sold to help rescue animals in need. That’s a better reason to shop than the photo op alone, though the photo op is pretty good.
