Some people are bronzer people and others gravitate toward blush, but everyone envies that rested, post-vacation glow. According to Gabriel De Santino, founder of natural makeup brand GABRIEL Cosmetics, the latest way to wear blush gives the appearance that you just got back from a tropical getaway without actually stepping foot outside of the office. Intrigued? Us too.
Super flushed cheeks were a major trend all over the 2018 Spring/Summer runways, but this trend takes it a step or two further and involves applying a “sunburnt” look to your nose and cheeks with blush—you can make it as subtle or stark as you’d like—and brightens up your complexion. “I’ve started to see people in NYC going for this look on the street,” celebrity makeup artist Mary Irwin says. “It’s still a little editorial, but super wearable.” Even better, it’s easy to do.

“All you’ll need is a bronzer in a shade darker than your skin tone and your favorite blush,” De Santino says. “Blend it where the sun would naturally hit it (on the forehead, cheeks and chin),” adds Irwin. You can stop there for a subtle glow, but for a more exaggerated look (what’s beginning to pick up steam), finish by applying blush on your nose and inner cheeks. If you’re using a cream blush, Irwin says dabbing a little on your lips will bring the whole look together.
Whether you go for a cream or blush, choosing a warm, deep shade instead of your go-to pink is key to making the look as naturally sunkissed as possible.
