While we could go on with even more buzzy nail trends, we’re even more excited to dive into the latest, and perhaps most minimalist, manicure of the season. Enter Selena Gomez’s summer blush manicure by celebrity nail artist Tom Bachik.
“The Perfect ‘Summer Blush’ #mani for this angel,” Bachik captioned an Instagram photo of Gomez on July 1. He explained that he prepped his client’s nails with Tweezerman tools “to create the perfect foundation” before applying Aprés Nail Gel-X Natural Almond Medium tips for shape and length. He then painted them with Aprés Nail’s Could’ve, Should’ve, Would’ve (608) a sheer, dusty rose pink hue with nude tones from the brand’s new Light & Shadow collection.
Recreating the look for yourself involves giving yourself (or asking your tech for) an almond nail shape and finding your perfect shade of polish. If you’re leaning towards a minimalist nude hue, Liliana Pennington, the director of education for LONDONTOWN, shared a straightforward tip for finding your ideal nude nail polish color match in a previous interview with NewBeauty. She suggests determining your undertones by holding each nude polish contender against the center of your palms. “If the nude shade looks good against your palm, then it’s a good match,” she says. If it doesn’t look good, she advises choosing a different nude color.
