Olivia Rodrigo wrapped up her worldwide Guts tour last month in Sydney, Australia, closing out an epic 95-show run that left fans (us included) feeling a bit emotional over its finale. Just weeks later, the 21-year-old superstar stepped into a new role as Lancôme’s global ambassador, adding yet another major milestone to her ever-growing list of achievements. But that’s not the only transformation she’s embracing—the Disney Channel alum surprised fans by chopping off her signature waist-length dark brown hair, a look that had become iconic during her high-energy performances over the past eight months. As recently told to Vogue, the haircut symbolizes the same bittersweet change that marked the close of her record-breaking tour. More on what she had to say in the interview, ahead.

“I feel like a brand new girl,” Rodrigo told the outlet, referring to her fresh, medium-length, layered haircut by celebrity hairstylist Clayton Hawkins. “I had really long hair while on tour and it was hard to take care of. I wanted to shed the dead ends so I chopped them off. It’s time for new beginnings.” Of course, as with any celebrity hair change, rumors swirled online that Rodrigo had gone for a major transformation, with whispers of her joining the A-list bob club (currently made up of Kendall Jenner, Natalie Portman and Kim Kardashian, among others). But Rodrigo set the record straight: it’s “not a bob!” she told Vogue. And we’ve got the photo evidence below courtesy of Hawkins himself to prove it.
