How to Find a Maximal Fragrance
Aside from the scents with big and bold formulations, there are also different intensity levels when it comes to perfume. An eau de toilette, for example, is a weaker formulation than an eau de parfum. In turn, parfums are weaker than eau de intense or parfum intense. Elixirs tend to have very high concentrations of scent, compared to parfum or cologne. Extraits have the highest concentration, resulting in powerful and long-wear fragrances with up to 40 percent fragrance oil.
If you’re looking for a bold scent that will last all day, you should avoid eau de toilette options, which carry the lowest concentration of aromatic oils (five to 15 percent perfume essence). Parfums traditionally have a 15 to 25 percent aromatic oil concentration and are much more likely to deliver a maximal fragrance.
When shopping for a maximal fragrance, try to avoid ‘skin scents‘ or ‘sheer’ scents. These minimal fragrances are worn ‘close to the skin’ and blend with and support your natural skin scent. While these fragrances can be built up to deliver a bolder scent, maximal fragrances tend to be bold enough to be smelled at least six inches from the body.
