Launch List: The Best Hair Care Launching in November featured image

Hundreds of products come across our desks every month, but not all of them deliver on their claims or live up to the hype. (Not everything that goes viral on TikTok is a miracle worker.) This is our exclusive curation of the best-in-class hair-care products receiving rave reviews from our team and hitting shelves right now.

1 / 10

DefenAge 150K Hair Follicle Serum ($148 for a one-month supply)

The brand’s first hair product is an impressive one. It features the brand’s patented, regenerative Defensin technology, which is what made its skin-line a successful hit with dermatologists and consumers alike. Made for both men and women experiencing thinning hair and hair loss, the water-based, drug-free serum contains an innovative blend of 48 ingredients that work together to target all 150,000 hair follicles on the scalp to make sure they’re functioning at their prime. This translates to less shedding, a healthier scalp environment and support for optimal hair growth.

“Pre-clinical research showed that the topical application of human Defensins in the research models leads to enhanced hair production through the augmentation of key Wnt-transcripts and stimulation of the blood supply through the activation of angiogenesis,” says Santa Barbara, CA facial plastic surgeon Gregory Keller, MD. “The medical aesthetic community has been buzzing about this product for a long time, and we are thrilled that it’s finally here.”

2 / 10

milk_shake Insta Lotion ($28)

I’m a big fan of the brand’s Leave-In Conditioner (one sells every minute around the world), and this new liquid rinse-out mask is a showstopper, too. It feels like water, smells like a peachy cocktail and pumps life back into dry, dull hair in seconds.

Apply it on damp hair after shampooing, concentrating on your lengths and ends, leave it in for a few seconds and then rinse it out. The mix of the brand’s signature milk proteins, hyaluronic acid and bilberry extract conditions the hair, amps up the shine factor and helps extend the life of hair color (it claims to make color last 60-percent longer than other conditioners!). It’s also a great detangler, and you’ll fall in love with the glossy finish you get, even after just one use.

3 / 10

Luminess Aeroscalp Scalp Cleansing Device ($99)

I’ve tried my share of scalp brushes (they’ve been trending big over the past year), but this takes the concept to the next level by adding airflow and sonic vibration. Apply your shampoo, then let this water-resistant device do the massage work instead of your fingers: The flexible, silicone bristles really rev up the lather to get rid of oil and buildup, while also stimulating blood flow to the scalp. We know how important a healthy scalp is for healthy hair, and this battery-powered tool lends a helping hand on all hair types.

4 / 10

RANAVAT Regenerative Veda Bond Complex Shampoo ($48)

Founder Michelle Ranavat knew she always wanted to expand into hair care, as hair health is considered paramount in South Asian culture and the hair is treated with the same TLC as the face. As an Indian-American, Ranavat grew up practicing Ayurvedic hair-care rituals, and now she’s launching the first-ever Ayurvedic bond strengthening complex.

The formula contains the brand’s proprietary Veda⁴ Bond Complex and in clinical testing, it proved to strengthen and repair hair bonds, improve scalp barrier function and reduce scalp redness, flakiness and irritation. Key ingredients include moisturizing pink lotus and hibiscus, calming ashwagandha, conditioning amla extract, and sunflower seed oil to impart serious shine.

5 / 10

Act+Acre Cold Processed Leave-In Conditioner ($48)

The brand’s top-requested styling product from customers is finally here after two years of development. Powered by the same patented Cold Pressed technology that propelled the brand to cult-classic status (the Scalp Detox is a must-try if you haven’t yet!), this plant-based leave-in treatment is a hydration hero for dry hair.

The secret sauce is a blend of vegan snow mushroom—it absorbs up to 500 times its weight in water—and glycerin, which helps keep the water in the hair. It also includes moisturizing squalene, argan oil and meadowfoam seed oil, but it doesn’t weigh the hair down.

6 / 10

Gussi Mane Squeeze 1″ Titanium & Ceramic Flat Iron ($129)

The launch of its salon-quality, formaldehyde-free, at-home keratin treatment put the brand on our radar last year, and since then the brand has expanded its range to offer shampoo, conditioner, and now this styling tool. The combination of titanium plates and a ceramic heater ensure consistent heat and uniform temperature throughout each styling sesh—it also heats up in just 60 seconds!

I also love that it comes with a silicone heat-resistant mat because I’m always freaked out that I’m going to burn something in my carry-on bag when I’m in a hurry and throw my iron in when it hasn’t fully cooled (it’s also dual voltage for easy traveling).

7 / 10

FEKKAI Super Strength+ Protein Power Bond Mist ($28)

From the brand’s new Super Strength+ line (it’s replacing the OG Super Strength range) comes this vegan, silicone-free micro-mist for damaged hair that features scientifically proven PowerBond technology to repair broken disulfide, hydrogen and ionic bonds. In testing, it strengthened hair up to two times and made it 10 times smoother—it’s a great product for all hair types with breakage and split ends.

It also provides a bit of detangling benefit and heat protection up to 450 degrees, and it helps create an invisible shield of sorts on the hair to protect against pollution (a must-have for city dwellers). Spray it from root to tip on wet or dry hair up to three times a week. I also love the warm, woodsy scent.

8 / 10

Saltair Moisture Bound Shampoo and Conditioner ($12 each)

The cult-favorite body-care brand is making its hair-care debut with two new shampoo-conditioner sets, including this duo for normal-to-thick, dry hair. The shampoo is infused with a blend of monoi, pequi and abyssinian oils, which help hydrated dry hair without adding greasiness or extra weight. The conditioner also features monoi oil, as well as squalane and hydrolyzed rice protein for a nice detangling, smoothing effect.

“I am so excited to introduce our just-launched collections of shampoos and conditioners, designed for daily moments to nourish your hair and awaken your senses,” says founder Iskra Lawrence. “Whether your locks need a major boost of hydration or just some serious TLC, our combos work like magic. Our always inclusive philosophy applies here too. Coily, curly, wavy, straight—they work brilliantly on all hair types and textures. And we’re firm believers that incredible, luxurious products don’t have to be expensive: Each shampoo and conditioner is only $12!”

I also love the scent—it’s the brand’s beloved Santal Bloom fragrance—and the fact that the chic 100-percent aluminum bottles are fully recyclable too. Keep an eye out for more newness coming soon too, including a collection for curly hair and one for blondes.

9 / 10

Luna Nectar Renaissance BetterHair Restoring Oil ($52, launching November 8)

With eco-friendly packaging and ingredient transparency (its formulas meet European standards), Luna Nectar is paving the way for the next generation of hair care. This pre-wash oil uses Ayurvedic, adaptogenic herbs like shikakai, bhringraj and amla to help rejuvenate damaged hair.

The earthy scent is a result of the natural extracts, and there are no synthetic fragrances included, which is a big win for those with sensitive scalps.

10 / 10

Rodan + Fields Refresh+ Dry Shampoo ($39)

Part of Rodan+Fields’ brand-new hair-care collection, this refreshing, citrus-scented dry shampoo employs rice starch to sop up excess oil and chamomile extract to soothe the scalp. (Some dry shampoos can be drying and lead to irritation when used regularly, but this one keeps a healthy scalp in mind, which was important to brand founders and dermatologists Dr. Kathy Fields and Dr. Katie Rodan).

In clinical testing, participants experienced a whopping 230-percent increase in volume after one use, 91 percent reported that their scalp felt more refreshed and soothed, and also said the product didn’t leave a visible white residue.
