Since 1931, La Prairie has been on the cutting edge of skin-care innovation thanks to the pioneering research of Swiss physician Dr. Paul Niehans, who spent his days finding ways to “make beauty everlasting.” Fast-forward to 2021, and La Prairie is debuting a new ultra-indulgent collection inspired by Dr. Niehans’ ideas: Platinum Rare Haute-Rejuvenation. “Platinum Rare is the apex of Haute Rejuvenation,” says Greg Prodromides, La Prairie’s chief marketing officer. “It’s the most innovative collection in the brand and took two years of intensive work to complete the development.”
According to Dr. Daniel Stangl, director of innovation for La Prairie, the skin has the inherent ability to regenerate itself, which is based on a highly coordinated network of processes managed by signaling molecules. As we age, this regenerative ability decreases, which is where Haute-Rejuvenation comes into the equation. “This intensive treatment combines a blend of signaling molecules that work as growth factors with La Prairie’s patent-pending Platinum Multi-Peptide and Exclusive Cellular Complex to visibly reawaken the skin. This helps to compensate for the loss and degradation that come with age,” says Dr. Stangl. “Skin’s cellular processes slow down, essential cells produce less new skin cells, and normal cells synthesize less collagen and elastin, leading to a loss of skin tissue.”
The Platinum Rare Haute-Rejuvenation Protocol ($1,980) has been expertly designed to counteract these changes. “It temporarily softens the skin barrier to optimally deliver its active ingredients into the skin, where they can fully be exploited,” explains Dr. Stangl. They work to reanimate the skin cells and regenerate the extracellular matrix where collagen and elastin lives. “Skin appears to be rejuvenated due to the creation of new tissue, which was demonstrated in clinical studies,” says Prodromides. “The results are truly unprecedented.”
The Protocol comes as three super luxe, dual-chamber vials of serum, each of which should be used for 10 days, twice a day. “It’s a month-long treatment that should be used intermittently four times a year to allow the skin to recalibrate between each use,” says Prodromides. “Three vials lets us deliver a higher efficacy of concentrated ingredients and a heightened sensorial experience for our clients.”
