If you’re someone who likes to change your hair with the seasons, I’d say it’s about time you start thinking about your summer hair color—and if you’re in need of some inspiration, you can always just look to Jennifer Love Hewitt, who just debuted what might shape up to be the hair color of the season.
On May 9, the 9-1-1 star shared an Instagram photo of her brand-new hair color, a coppery red courtesy of hairstylist and Wella ambassador Nikki Lee. “I have wanted to be red for so long,” Hewitt wrote in the caption. “@nikkilee901 crushed this color! She named my color Sunset Lover.”
Per Lee’s own Instagram post showing the transformation, Hewitt started out with shoulder-length brown hair with blond highlights before she was taken up to a lighter, more brassy red with balayage.
Hewitt isn’t the only celeb who’s gone red by Lee’s design. Back in February, Emma Roberts debuted a similar shade that Lee named “Sunrise Red” followed by actress Kayla Well, who showed off her new copper locks in March.
Red hair—in all of its shades—has been having a huge moment over the last few years. Last year, colorists named “Wild Cherry,” (a deep burgundy) the color of the summer, and shortly before that, “Cowboy Copper” took over our Instagram feeds. Hewitt’s recent transformation only proves that our love for the bold statement color hasn’t dissipated, and if “Sunset Lover” manages to become an even bigger trend in the next few months, we all know who to thank.
