When we think back to summer of 2020, our Instagram feeds were full of celebrities attempting DIY highlights and at-home haircuts with their kitchen scissors. While salons have started to open back up with safety measures in place, some still feel more comfortable taking hair matters into their own hands, and Heidi Klum is among the bunch.
On Instagram yesterday, the supermodel posted a video of herself cutting her bangs in her bathroom, trying her hand at many different trimming options for the best result, kitchen shears included.
Tagging her go-to hairstylists Wendy Iles and Lorenzo Martin in the clip, Klum says, “I just asked my husband what his favorite hairstyle is and he said ‘long hair with bangs.’ Let’s give it a try.” The video then speeds through all of her potential cutting options, from a pair of eyebrow scissors to the trusty kitchen pair, before she settles with a dermaplaning facial device.
The 47-year-old then gets to work, slowly but surely trimming around the edges of her face with the razor, commonly used to remove peach fuzz and dull skin from the face. “He better notice this when he comes home tonight,” she says over a laugh. “Don’t cut the lashes!”
Ending the video with a disclaimer, Klum advises her viewers to tread carefully when it comes to DIY trims. “Don’t do this at home,” she says. After applying her eyeliner and blowing out her locks, the star has made the impossible look very-much achievable—and ultra chic.
