Whether you’re rocking a bright blond ‘do at the moment or you’ve experimented with the lighter side of things in the past, anyone who’s tried their hand at bleaching and dying their stands knows that undoing the damage that comes with it so no small feat. For a celebrity as fabulous and historically bleached blond as Hayden Panettiere, you may think that the damage of it all is below her, but as revealed in a candid Instagram reel this weekend, the Nashville star has had her fair share of fried-hair struggles. Keep reading to see how she transformed her mane from parched and fried to positively radiant.
Hayden Panettiere Details Damaged Hair Journey: ‘This Is a Disaster’
When Panettiere sat down in Connecticut-based hairstylist Becker Chicaiza‘s chair, she was determined to mend her damaged hair woes, and took her Instagram followers along for the journey too. “This is a disaster,” the actress began, motioning to her visibly damaged strands. Explaining that her roots are the most grown out they’ve ever been on account of hair needs for recent projects, Panettiere put full faith in Chicaiza to remedy her ‘do, and the hairstylist opted to take the Bring It On star’s color a bit darker to help prioritize hair health while still giving her gorgeous color.
After revealing that she “bleached [her] hair Barbie blond” and essentially “snapped it off,” dying it for a recent film, Chicaiza agreed that a darker blond shade would be Panettiere’s best bet, as he foresaw even more breakage if she continued with the platinum shade. To help transition Panttiere’s hair to a color more hair health-friendly, Chicaiza turned to a balayage style, blending the darker blond hues in effortlessly. Chicaiza finished off the new ‘do with a repairing hair mask to enhance strength and shine and touched up her cut and added extensions, and the results were truly gag worthy. Panettiere herself couldn’t get enough. “This is the color that I should’ve been for a long time,” she says. “I feel beautiful—I thought I’d lost my hair forever.”
