As the first, and currently the only, clean medicine company out there, it’s no surprise that Genexa earned the top spot on Fast Company’s Most Innovative Company in Wellness for 2022. Genexa nabbed the number-one spot by demonstrating its commitment to clean over-the-counter medicine. They’ve done this by keeping all the active ingredients you need and nixing unnecessary artificial ingredients.

Similar to some clean beauty brands, Genexa has a public list of ingredients you’ll never find in their medicine, including artificial preservatives, dyes, sweeteners, talc, sorbitol, high fructose corn syrup and common allergens like gluten and lactose. Genexa replaced these ingredients with natural ingredients such as organic fruit extracts and beetroot, says Fast Company.

Genexa began back in 2016 but has expanded significantly over the past year and a half and is now available in all the main drugstores as well as online. From cold and flu medicine to kid’s pain relievers, Genexa has something for every common ailment.

“To be recognized by Fast Company for our innovations in the health and wellness category is a true honor and extremely validating, following many years of hard work, research and development, and perseverance,” Genexa co-founder David Johnson said in a statement, “Despite several roadblocks by those within the pharmaceutical industry who time and again told us that making medicine with only clean ingredients could not be done, we persevered. We created this company because we believe in putting ‘People Over Everything’ and for us, that means making clean medicine not only for our children but for everyone.”
