What motivates you to work out? Your friends? The rush of it all? The sheer fear of being overweight and unhealthy? For those of us who need some sway tactics in the quest to sweat, a fitness concierge service (think of it as a superluxurious personal trainer) may be the answer. We spoke to Vanessa Martin, founder and CEO of SIN Workouts in New York (with new outposts coming soon to Miami and Chicago) to get the inside track on everything you need to know about this exclusive training option.
What does the service involve?
SIN has identified all barriers that inhibit people from making it to—and through—a workout. Our concierge staff works to custom-tailor clients’ training and fitness programs on a weekly basis to coincide and seamlessly integrate into their work and social lives and keep them motivated, accountable and excited about their sessions. We also handle things like:
- Client class and/or training registration and studio accounts
- Reminders and wake-up calls
- Unique services (laundry, car service, traveling juice bar, meal delivery)
Fad—or fitness wave of the future?
I understand I am slightly biased, however, I truly believe this is the direction the fitness industry is going in. SIN, which stands for “Strength In Numbers,” presents itself in the fitness industry on both the luxury approach, as well as the community-building side. When thinking of our clients that have been with us since we launched in 2012, they are now so accustomed to the provided services and assistance, that they can no longer envision not having their fitness concierge handle their scheduling and bookings. Essentially, I foresee a great majority of the population in the future having a fitness concierge on staff just as they would a personal assistant.
Who do you work with?
While we always strive to keep our clients engaged, motivated and excited about their workouts, we also take their program very seriously. We work with a wide variety of clients and fitness levels, all with different goals and paths. Obese and/or underweight populations, fitness enthusiasts looking to take their training to a higher level, those totally new to working out, and the youth population.
What kind of results have you seen?
We have many success stories, but some that really stick out very much circle back to our clients that have totally changed their lifestyle as a result of a solid fitness and wellness program. We have seen clients overcome struggles and stressors they have dealt with for years while being on our program.
