For many parts of the country, this summer has felt somewhat like a never-ending heatwave, with scorching temperatures and blazing sun becoming the norm most days. While a sizzling summer is no big deal if lounging by the beach, the steamy weather can cause a lot of sweaty discomfort, from our morning commutes to less-than-ideal A/C conditions in the office and more. So, we're all making sure we're stocked up on our favorite deodorants to keep us feeling (and smelling) our best throughout this exceptionally warm season. But if you're a user of Power Stick antiperspirants, you'll want to be aware of the recent FDA recall on thousands of batches of the product.
FDA Recalls Power Stick Deodorants for Violating Manufacturing Guidelines
Last week, Pennsylvania-based self-care and beauty manufacturer, A.P. Deauville made public a recall on a whopping 67,214 cases of their Power Stick Roll-On Deodorant. The reason for the recall was listed as being a violation of Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) standards, which are put in place by the FDA to ensure products are manufactured safely and at the highest quality.
While the FDA recall did not provide details on the possible health effects of the recalled products or specify what regulatory protocols were violated, the company did disclose that the recall affects three different SKUS: the Power Stick for her roll-on Antiperspirant Deodorant in Powder Fresh, Power Stick Invisible Protection Roll-On Antiperspirant Deodorant in Spring Fresh and the Power Stick Original Nourishing Invisible Protection Roll-On Antiperspirant Deodorant. The recalled products were available for purchase on Amazon and at Walmart locations, and the FDA recommends any recalled products be returned to the supplier or discarded to ensure consumer safety.
