The brand just launched its first-ever face SPF: Marine Screen SPF 50 ($42). More than 20 years in the making, the mineral sunscreen was designed with a skin-care-first approach for easy, everyday wear.
Created with non-nano zinc oxide, the all-mineral hydrating emulsion wears more like skin care than traditional sunscreen, while still delivering broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection. It also contains hyaluronic acid to soften and smooth skin, alongside OSEA’s signature seaweed-infused touch. Undaria seaweed, specifically, is rich in amino acids, antioxidants and nutrients that help nourish the skin, making it a fitting addition to the reef-friendly formula. Another standout ingredient is an olive-derived natural silicone alternative, which helps give the sunscreen its lightweight, non-greasy texture and blendable finish.
According to the brand, the launch went through several rounds of development to meet OSEA’s standards, despite years of consumer demand. The result is a thoughtful, long-awaited SPF designed to slot seamlessly into any morning routine. The untinted formula can be worn over moisturizer, on its own, or under makeup and leaves behind a hydrated, natural-looking finish. It’s also fragrance-free, making it a solid option for those sensitive to scents.
The skin-care-meets-sun-care formula is also backed by consumer testing: After one week, 94 percent of users agreed skin felt softer, while 91 percent said skin felt smoother and looked and felt healthier.
