Every year, performers, influencers, celebrities and fans flock to the Coachella Valley for North America’s biggest music festival (it attracts over 250,000 attendees per year) bringing with them their festival fashions and glam. This year, we experienced major FOMO once again as we watched our favorite Coachella beauty looks. From Lana to Sabrina and Paris to Alix, we couldn’t look away. Here are a few of our favorites from week one.
Lana Del Rey
The night one headliner arrived to the stage in a motorcycle cavalcade reminiscent of her Ride video to the delight of devoted fans. Celebrity makeup artist Etienne Ortega gave her the most perfect Hollywood starlet glam using his new Soft Contour Lip Liner in “Xola” ($16) and Liquid Icon Hyper Gloss ($18) in “Por Vida” from his new Ortega line.
Hair stylist Anna Cofone says she gave Lana old Hollywood hair with Authentic Beauty Concept products. “Lana and I were inspired by Hollywood icons for this look – the likes of Veronica Lake and Lauren Bacall. A timeless look that’s elegant yet updated— Hollywood waves in the desert. This look also pays homage to Lana’s look when we first started working together in 2011,” says Cofone. She applied the Shaping Cream ($25) and Strong Hold Hairspray ($22) to shape her classic look.
Sabrina Carpenter
Makeup artist Carolina Gonzalez slayed the house boots down with her ethereal goddess glow. For her sparkly eye she used Half Magic Beauty Glitterpuck Pressed Glitter ($26) on her lids as well as Glitterpill in Microcosm ($22). Gonzalez says the Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Glow Blush ($39) in shades 51 and 52 were the key to creating her signature blushed look.
Doja Cat
Never one to disappoint, headliner Doja Cat gave herself a hair transformation during her performance on the main stage, going from long blonde extensions to her signature cropped ‘do.
Bebe Rexha
The “I’m Good” singer closed out opening weekend in a black and white jumpsuit and fierce glam.
Alix Earle
The influencer queen also ruled the scene at the festival. On Day 2 she honored the memory of recently departed designer Roberto Cavalli with a vintage fit. She paired the look with festival braids and long-lasting glam courtesy of bestie Patrick Ta.
Lauryn Hill
Solidifying the return of blue shadow, Hill took center stage alongside her son YG Marley and Wyclef Jean for a Fugees-style mini-reunion. The vibrant hue adorned her eyelids for a bright and bold look that was as memorable as their performance.
Paris Hilton
The festival queen did it again with a western-inspired look. She joined Vampire Weekend on stage for their Simple Life theme song rendition.
Ice Spice
Making a departure from her short, curly look, the rapper brought out the spicy long locks for her history-making performance. Hairstylist Dijah says she secured her wig cap in place using göt2b glued Bonding Glue ($9). “It ensures a seamless look and kept the wig perfectly in place all day—no touch-ups needed and it’s gentle on the scalp,” she said. During her set she gave a shout out to collaborator Taylor Swift who showed her support from the crowd.
Gwen Stefani and Olivia Rodrigo
Bringing back face gems and a modified bantu knot, the star shared the stage with Olivia Rodrigo who paid homage to the singer’s early No Doubt looks with her own Tragic Kingdom inspired ensemble. The duo’s red lip look were of course courtesy of GXVE Beauty’s High Performance Matte Lipstick in “Original Recipe” ($26), one of our favorite rouge lipsticks.
Raye
The British multi-platinum artist brought her retro style to the desert with throwback Vivienne Westwood Anglomania corset and Dolce & Gabbana skirt from the archive for her Coachella performance.
Shakira
The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer was a surprise guest and joined BZRP on stage. With the fiery energy of a living fire emoji, the She-Wolf captivated all eyes with her signature long, wavy locks blowing in the desert wind.
