The Bob Is Back

“Hairstyles that require having really good haircuts are quite popular again,” says celebrity hairstylist and Colorproof ambassador David Cruz. “The bob definitely fits in that category.”

Alongside a resurgence in shorter cuts, we’re also seeing the return of the side part.

“What’s happening for spring haircuts is shoulder length hair or a long bob with side part swept over bangs,” professional hairstylist Artur Kirsh previously told NewBeauty. To perfect the look, he says, “hair should be long enough that you can pull it up, and when you wear it down, it looks like a style. One side should be slightly longer than the other, very slightly.”

The Summer of Hair Transformations

We’ve seen so many stunning hair transformations this summer, we’re starting to lose count. From drastic cuts to stunning texture, these looks can also come with drastic color changes, adding to the double-take shock of a chopped haircut.

If you’re thinking of adding a color change to your next haircut, master colorist and hairstylist Kadi Lee of the Highbrow Hippie suggests taking it slow. “When making drastic color changes, in this case from red to blonde, my approach is always the same—slow and methodical, while always keeping the health and integrity of the hair first and foremost,” Lee says.

But I always knew it as a shag. When I told my hairdresser, Dave Stanwell, that I wanted to cut my hair, we were referring to it as a shag.”
