Lorena Robinson, stylist at Warren Tricomi Salon in New York’s famed Plaza Hotel, has been busy recently—and not fighting off the crowds who wander the hotel hoping to relive a little Home Alone 2 holiday magic. Instead, she’s been helping her very coiffed customers fight the elements to hang on to her healthy-looking blowouts a bit longer.
A big downside to the cold weather that a lot of salon-goers suffer from, she says: dull hair. “During the winter, hair becomes dry and lacks luster. My favorite in-salon remedy is the Kerastase Water Treatment, which gives hair instant vibrancy, moisture and shine.” (The patent-pending treatment almost creates a “glass” effect, while upping hydration and softening hair.)
Robinson is also a big fan of the old-fashioned velcro roller for creating body and volume—two other good-hair features that tend to dwindle in the cold weather.
And, if you can’t make it to The Plaza, her super simple trick can help you recreate a good hair day at home: “Using rollers at home is such a helpful took for easy volume. Places a roller at the crown as well as on each side will give bounce to the hair,” she says. “Do this before getting ready to save you some time!”
