Let’s Just Get to the Point:
There’s a new spot treatment in town, and it doesn’t disappoint. Taking it one (or two) steps further than similar options, Boscia’s Charcoal Spot Corrector ($28) is brimming with activated charcoal, salicylic acid and willow herb extract to purify pores, treat them and keep redness at bay.
If You Want to Know More:
Thanks to celebs like Bella Hadid, Kylie Jenner and Lili Reinhart who aren’t shy about spot-treating pesky blemishes on Instagram, breakouts are becoming less and less taboo. And though the well-known celeb favorite is the classic light-pink offering from Mario Badescu, Boscia’s latest launch is here to give it some serious competition.

Both products contain salicylic acid to help wrangle pimples, along with talc, calamine and zinc, but Boscia’s bottle offers up some additional heavy-hitters (think activated charcoal and natural willow herb extract) to clear skin up fast. According to Fresno, CA dermatologist Kathleen Behr, MD, activated charcoal contains internal spaces or pores that can trap and remove excess sebum, bacteria, and toxins. "Spot treating acne lesions with charcoal may help to dry them up and decrease the inflammation."
Aside from the charcoal, which dissolves and lifts dirt, oil and impurities from pores (instead of only treating surface-level bacteria), natural willow herb extract also works to reduce redness and soothe inflammation on contact and over time.
To use the treatment, dip a cotton swab into the bottle until it touches the black charcoal powder (don’t shake the bottle; the two layers should be separated). Then apply a thin coat to the affected areas and leave on anywhere from an hour to overnight (you'll notice a significant change by the time you wake up) to keep your skin clearer for longer. If you’re in the market for a breakout buster, this one works like a charm and makes spot-treating breakouts about as chic as it can get.
