We’ve been enamored with Zooey Deschanel for as long as we can remember, way before her New Girl days, that’s for sure. We love every role she’s taken on, but, like any celebrity we follow closely, we’re always curious about her beauty routine and how it’s evolved. Lucky for us, the actress recently sat down with The Strategist to share an updated look at the makeup, hair and skin-care products she uses regularly. Ahead, we’re breaking down all the details, starting with the quick eyeshadow routine we’re copying ASAP.
Zooey Deschanel’s Favorite Eyeshadow Stick: Laura Mercier Caviar Eyeshadow Stick in Amethyst
“I was just looking for easy eyeshadow sticks because I would use an eyeshadow palette, but it’s just a lot,” she says. “You have to have a brush and the whole thing. I don’t know why, but I just happened upon this one. This particular color, it’s just the perfect color for me. I mean everybody has different coloring, so it might not work on everybody. But for me, it’s subtle enough. I have other colors, but I use this one almost always, and I have bought dozens of them. I put them in my bag. It’s just a great eyeshadow stick and easy—and it lasts all day.”
Zooey Deschanel’s Favorite Hair Tool: Weleda Skin Food Original
“I have multiple Dyson Airwraps because I like to have one for travel,” she reveals. “I have a European one with the European plug (so that I don’t blow out my dryer); it works in the U.K., too, because it’s the same voltage, it’s just a different plug.
To do my own hair with a regular blow-dryer is really hard, but with the Dyson AirWrap, it’s easy. And you can use it to curl your hair, too. So it does multiple things. It’s just such a great tool. I always had trouble doing my hair until I discovered that.”
Zooey Deschanel’s Favorite Cream for Dry Skin: Weleda Skin Food Original
“People used to put it on for hand cream, right? It’s really thick. I had some, and I wanted a really thick moisturizer. And I was like, ‘Why don’t I just put this on my face? I mean, it’s all-natural stuff.’ So I just tried it, and it’s amazing and it’s cheap. Look, a lot of people break out if you put on heavy products. So I get it’s not for everybody, but if you have dry skin, this stuff is great for your face. If you’re not worried about breakouts and you have dry skin, it’s fantastic.”
