Planning to get breast implants? It’s exciting to imagine what you’ll look like after surgery, but you’ll have to go through a recovery process before you can settle back into life and your new look.
You’ll wake up after surgery wearing a support bra, and possibly have thin tubes in your incisions to help drain excess fluid or one attached to a pain pump that delivers pain medication directly to the surgical site.
Expect to be stiff and sore. Some patients also report a feeling a tightness in the chest. Although many patients will go home the day of surgery and be able to walk around, you’ll need someone to take care of you for at least 24 hours.
Most patients are back to work within a week or so, and breast shape begins to settle within six weeks, though it can take six months or more for final results to be apparent.
Remember, it’s imperative to follow your surgeon’s post-op instructions to a T!
