For anyone looking to try this look themselves, Smith recommends asking at the salon for a level six or seven shade of brown with gold tones and allowing your stylist to slightly tailor the shades to best compliment your skin tone. Changing your hair is a big commitment, which Smith recognizes, so for anyone who is intrigued by the look but hesitant to dive in, he suggests trying a demi-permanent color if you're already at a lighter tone in order to test drive the look before you commit.
