In the past, lip enhancement with injectables was typically reserved for older women who wanted younger-looking lips. Today, that has changed.
“I’m seeing an increase in young women requesting lip enhancement, which may be the result of celebrity influence or the rise of the ‘selfie’ culture,” says Troy, MI, plastic surgeon Anthony Youn, MD. “Whereas older women enhance their lips to restore the fullness they had when they were younger and fill in lip lines, younger patients typically do it because they believe it makes them look more attractive.”
Dr. Youn says that natural-looking volume is the best approach, and that “duck lips” are a thing of the past. “I use Juvéderm Ultra Plus, a hyaluronic acid filler that gives a temporary boost in fullness that lasts about six months or more.”
