Recently, the seven-time Olympic gold medalist got candid about her experience with plastic surgery and her choice to be open about it with her fans.
In an exclusive interview with People Magazine, she shared that vulnerability has always been a strong part of her personality—stating, "It's just who I am and I feel like I've always tried to be open, honest and relatable." Publicly, we know her as the iconic gymnast. But on TikTok, Biles is just one of the girls, frequently sharing antics and beauty tips.
The platform is also where this conversation began. In a "get unready with me" video, she divulged that she’d undergone three plastic surgery procedures, asking viewers to take their best guess in the comments. As expected, the section exploded before Biles coyily responded with a cherry emoji, confirming guesses of a breast augmentation.
Months before, she’d shared a video showing off her trampoline skills, sharing it was her first flip in a year and with her new “cherries”. However, it wasn’t until her recent interview that she officially confirmed the procedure. In her sit-down with People, she emphasized that her decision was about self-love. “It’s just feeling good about yourself and loving yourself, and I've always been very vocal about that.”
She added that relating to people on this level is much more than what’s often shown on social media. In an era of transparency, she hopes that her decision to be open shows young women that they can make their own choices without shame. Biles has also been candid about having a lower blepharoplasty, earlobe surgery and Botox on her 27th birthday—despite it not going as well as she’d hoped.
