Yes. At least, that’s what some health officials say. Many propose that sugar should be identified as a health danger like alcohol and tobacco.

If it were approved, the tax would be placed on sweetened foods and drinks in an effort to lessen the consumption of these products. The U.S. government is currently considering a soda tax that would up the price of soda by 10 to 12 cents. But some say that this isn’t enough, to significantly reduce soda consumption, the cost of a soda would have to double.

More and more evidence pinpoints chronic sugar consumption as the culprit behind hypertension and diabetes, not to mention, the love handles and jiggly thighs that we constantly use cellulite creams and laser treatments to smooth. The diseases alone cost the United States about 150 billion dollars in medical care every year, while the costs of weight-loss treatments continue to skyrocket too. Plus, we also know that sugar ages you.
