The term "facelift" was once a controversial one, associated with over-the-top, unnatural results that kept people wary of the full-face rejuvenating procedure. But today, the facelifts being performed in-office are far from your grandma's nip and tuck treatments, and the celebrities undergoing the life-changing surgeries are living proof. One year ago, actress Ricki Lake took the plunge and went under the knife, and fans (ourselves included) have been in awe at her incredible, youthful results. While Lake, 56, has been candid about opting to undergo a facelift and neck lift—revealing her treatment choices originally on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen—the Hairspray star is celebrating one year post-op with a full breakdown of her surgery and cosmetic treatment regimen, and it's safe to say we're taking notes.
Ricki Lake Dishes the Specifics On Her New Look
"One year ago today I did a thing," the actress began in her candid Instagram post. "Yes, today July 18th, is the one year anniversary of my deep plane lower face and neck lift, plus a mild CO2 laser. I was in the best of hands with my plastic surgeon @drallenfoulad, a true master in his field." Lake went on to explain that she gained the confidence to undergo the treatment after "a dear friend had the most incredible experience with Dr. Foulad," after meeting with top doctors across the country before making her pick.
Sharing a carousel of candid images, Lake showcased the areas she was unhappy with before treatment, her slight bruising and swelling post-op and a show-stopping, makeup-free selfie to emphasize her next-level results. Alongside the photos Lake wrote, "I had lost 40 lbs and did not like the extra skin that hung from below my chin. It was never going to tighten up on its own. Not at 55. Trust me, when I tell you, I still felt extra cute and loved myself regardless, especially after working so hard to get in the best shape of my life. This procedure was the icing on the cake." Now on the other side of her treatment journey, Lake has no regrets. "One year later, I look back on my brave choice and consider it one of the best decisions I ever made for myself," she says." I share with all of you, as I am an open book and always will be."
