It’s officially beach wave season, and Katie Holmes is here to prove it. On May 6, the actress shared an Instagram photo of her attending a party to celebrate the second season of Peacock’s Poker Face. In it, Holmes is seen wearing a two-piece blue, white and yellow floral suit with her hair styled in long, beachy mermaid waves.
“Thank you @nlyonne for having me for season 2,” the caption reads. “Thank you @briesarawelch for styling this look! Thank u @djquintero and @genevieveherr for getting me ready♥️”
Holmes’s hair was styled by celebrity hairstylist DJ Quintero, who’s also worked on Martha Stewart, Lea Michele, Demi Moore and Amanda Seyfried. Quintero has yet to share any details on the exact products he used on her hair, but the very good news is that mermaid waves are pretty effortless, and they’re not too hard to recreate at home. If we had to guess, we’d say that he either added a special curly styling cream to her hair while it was still wet, or he went in and manually created waves with a hot tool like the amika High Tide Deep Wave Hair Crimper ($120). Either way, I think it’s safe to say that the mermaid look is officially the style of the summer.
