We all know it only takes one A-lister to make an old trend new again, and Joey King did just that at tonight’s 2025 SAG Awards. Combining a trendy manicure of today with a quirky Y2K style, King’s powder blue, mismatched naked nails are sure to be the next big thing.

For tonight’s SAG Awards, nail artist Thuy Nguyen matched King’s nails to her baby blue, bejeweled ensemble, combining the clean-girl naked nail trend with alternating powder blue nails for a sophisticated yet quirky style. Back in the early 2000s, multicolored mismatched nails were all the rage, and King’s elevated red carpet take on the style just gave the trend new life.

“For today’s look, I decided to choose a color that would match the lapel on Joey’s dress,” says Nguyen, who used a “periwinkle blue beauty” shade—Fairywinkle ($15) by Aprés Nail—for the accent nails on her pointer and ring fingers. For the naked nails, Nguyen used the brand’s First Touch ($15) to get that crisp, clear shellac before going in with Aprés’ New Year Wishes ($15) for the dainty silver detailing.
