Priyanka Chopra’s Makeup Artist Told Us These $24 Pads Make Makeup Melt Into Skin

If you, like us, were wondering how Priyanka Chopra’s makeup looks so picture-perfect—almost indistinguishable from her own skin—her makeup artist, Morgane Martini, has shared the secret. Martini, who created Chopra’s look for tonight’s 98th Annual Academy Awards, didn’t jump straight to makeup. Instead, she took her time with skin prep ahead of glam, using products from the buzzy South Korean skin-care brand Dr. Althea.

“Glowing, luminous skin is always the goal on the red carpet because when the complexion looks healthy and balanced, makeup naturally looks more refined on camera,” Martini said of the look in a statement to the press. “For Priyanka’s Oscars look tonight, I focused on a skin-care ritual that calms the skin, boosts hydration and creates a beautifully smooth base so the makeup melts into the skin rather than sitting on top of it.”

"I started with the Stretchfit Calming Pads ($24) on targeted areas to gently soothe, cool and rebalance the skin while refining texture," she continued. "It’s the perfect first step for creating that smooth canvas I rely on before foundation." (Editors' note: That’s due to ingredients such as centella asiatica, panthenol and zinc PCA in the formula, which help calm redness, hydrate the skin and smooth texture so makeup applies more evenly.) "Then I layered the ABC Glow Whipped Serum ($20) which delivers a fantastic glow and great hydration, giving the skin a natural luminosity that really comes alive under red carpet lighting," Martini continued.

Next, she reached for a barrier-sealing moisturizer to "lock everything in." Martini specifically applied Martini specifically applied "the 345 Relief Cream ($27) to prevent redness and deeply moisturize the skin so the complexion stays fresh and plump throughout a long evening of cameras and lights. For the under-eyes, I used the Retinol Flat Iron Eye Roller ($23) to smooth and energize the area. It helps depuff and refine the texture so concealer applies beautifully and stays crease-free."

She didn’t forget SPF, which is essential anytime skin is exposed to UV—even during a brief step-and-repeat moment."I finished with the Aqua Glowing Sunscreen ($20) which protects the skin while leaving a subtle radiance that enhances that lit-from-within glow," said Martini. "When the skin is this well prepared, the makeup becomes more about enhancing the natural complexion rather than covering it."

And last but not least: a refresh for later in the evening. "And because red carpet events are long, I always keep the 345 Relief Cream Mist ($20) on hand for touch-ups, a quick spritz instantly revives hydration and brings the glow back to the skin without disturbing the makeup.”
