It may only be a few short weeks since Jennifer Lopez got bangs, but the star is already shaking up her new style. Her latest look, which debuted on stylist Chris Appleton’s Instagram page, reveals a sophisticated updo on the star, giving her bangs an entirely new look.
The updo highlights exactly where her thick, fringe-like bangs end along her cheeks, fanning out into face-framing strands along the side of her face. It’s essentially the mature version of our favorite childhood ponytail look, giving us some serious updo inspiration for winter when our wardrobe is full of turtle necks (which naturally calls for updos).
“The key is to get the some good separation and make the bang work for your face shape,” Appleton says about the look in an Instagram post. Adding that he relies on the Color Wow Style on Steroids ($24) to give bangs that textured, lived-in vibe. While we’re unsure of how long Lopez’s bangs will ultimately last, we can’t help but hope they stick around for awhile. After all, she looks (unsurprisingly) incredible with the fringe.

Hair stylist Chris Appleton also shared a picture on his Instagram feed of JLo’s new hairstyle. In the caption he wrote, “She bangs.”
No matter how she wears her hair, the 49-year-old performer looks absolutely gorgeous.
