Dr. Jan Adams, the doctor who performed tummy tuck and breast reduction surgery on Kanye West’s mother, Donda, the day before she died, has surrendered his license to practice medicine in California. However, although the apparent connection between the surgery and her death contributed to damaging his reputation, because the coroner never determined an official cause of death, it is not the reason the state medical board brought charges against him.
Adams, who is not a board-certified plastic surgeon, faced disciplinary action due to multiple DUI convictions, which had already earned him probation and one year in jail. Earlier this year, the board postponed renewing his license because of his failure to pay child support.
Formerly the host of Plastic Surgery: Before & After on Discovery Health, Adams can petition for reinstatement in three years.
