When it comes to healthy, shiny, perfect hair, there’s a handful of ingredients that can work their magic for strands that look oh so good. But there may be an ingredient out there—one that you may not have ever thought of—that could be the secret to perfect hair.

Enter: copper. Found in the Copper Core Thermal Round Brushes from 1907 by Fromm($16), as well hair care products like NuGene Anti-Hair Loss, ($125), Sara Pirok, chief marketing officer for Fromm, says that copper is an amazing element found in all tissues in the human body that provides a multitude of overall health and skin benefits, as well as healing properties for your hair. “Due to its antimicrobial nature, copper actually destroys 88 percent of bacteria, which keeps your hair healthy and flake-free.”

A long-standing ingredient in skin care, Pirok says that the benefits of copper have long been overlooked in the hair arena—until now. “Incorporating copper into hair tools required some out-of-the-box thinking. It’s a lengthy process of product designs and testing, so these brushes are harder to develop than those that are more traditional. The Fromm copper-infused brushes help prevent dandruff, itching and flaking and ensure that heat is distributed evenly so that hair dries 30 percent faster.

As if that weren’t enough, Pirok adds that copper, when used in shampoos and conditioner, is also beneficial. “It has anti-inflammatory properties and is known to be helpful with scalp damage and hair thinning.”
