Makeup artist Mallory Osses creates some really easy-to-follow and down-to-earth tutorials on TikTok and Instagram. Described as having “good vibes” by her followers, Osses is also open to suggestions from her social media fans when it comes to what kind of makeup looks she should try. (Plus, she’s really solid at calling makeup trends and bringing back some “oldies but goodies” when it comes to iconic makeup moments.)
Enter the “chin blush” trend into the chat.
“You guys told me that, as an oblong face person, I should be putting blush on my chin,” she recently shared in a video. “But…I tried it yesterday and, by the end of the day, it looked like I had no foundation on my chin.”
Osses then went on to “give it another go” with the vibrant Bobbi Brown’s Calypso Coral ($36) powder blush. “I’m just going to put a little bit on my nose and the pointiest part of my chin,” she demonstrated. “I think it does look so much more cohesive! And it does shorten my chin a lot, which is good. We’ll see how it looks at the end of the day!”
"I think matte bronzer or contour is a better option," suggested one follower in the comments. "I have pretty much the same face shape and that’s what works for me. I also have rosacea so I’m not trying to add more redness to my face."
While the chin-blush move may be simple, as Osses shared, she ended up being a fan. She also thinks it goes hand in hand with the boyfriend blush, the “sporty” and youthful makeup trend that resembles a flush.
“Chin blush brings a balance and cohesiveness to the face!” Osses says. “By adding color to the chin and forehead, as well as the cheeks, you look sun-kissed and balanced.”
Plus, she says, it really did seem to work for her face shape.
“I love chin blush, especially for oblong and oval faces that may have a longer more prominent chin. It softens and fills in the blank space that may draw attention to the chin otherwise.”
