Filler under the eyes used to be more of an off-label tweak, but the category has come a long way. In recent years, several fillers have earned FDA approval specifically for under-eye hollows, giving providers more options for an area that can be notoriously tricky to treat. Now, there’s another one to add to the list: RHA Redensity Eye.
The newest addition to the Teoxane RHA Collection has just received that approval, cleared for the correction of moderate to severe volume loss in the under-eye area, or infraorbital hollows, in adults ages 22 and older. It’s now the latest hyaluronic acid filler to earn that distinction.
RHA Redensity Eye joins a relatively small group of fillers approved for this area, including Juvéderm Volbella XC (2021), Restylane Eyelight (2023) and Belotero Balance (+) (also 2023). RHA Redensity Eye is formulated with mepivacaine and uses Teoxane's Preserved Network Technology, a manufacturing process designed to preserve the structure of hyaluronic acid.
“The FDA approval of RHA Redensity Eye for the infraorbital region is the latest advancement in what has been a defining period for the Teoxane RHA Collection,” Revance CEO Nadeem Moiz said in a press release, calling the under-eye “one of the most delicate and sought-after” areas in facial rejuvenation.
In a 52-week clinical study, 93 percent of patients saw an improvement in their under-eye hollows at three months, with results lasting up to a year without touch-ups. The study, which helped support the FDA approval, reported no serious treatment-related side effects or delayed complications, including inflammatory reactions or vascular occlusions.
RHA Redensity Eye is another option in the growing under-eye toolkit. Because the under-eye has delicate tissue and complex vascular anatomy, choosing an experienced, qualified injector who understands the area is especially important.
