From athletes to pop stars, more celebrities are speaking openly about their experiences with GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound. Once whispered about, these formerly taboo treatments are now part of broader conversations about health, aging and balance. Their stories reveal the many reasons people turn to GLP-1s, from postpartum recovery and menopause challenges to the difficulty of keeping weight off long-term. Here’s what they’ve shared about their journeys.
Serena Williams
Williams said she turned to a GLP-1 after struggling to lose weight post-pregnancy despite training and eating clean. The tennis legend and WYN Beauty founder revealed she lost more than 31 pounds and that the medication “helped me enhance everything that I was already doing—eating healthy and working out.” She added, “I feel really good and healthy. I feel light physically and light mentally.”

Andy Cohen
On his Radio Andy show, Cohen admitted he “micro-dosed a GLP-1 all summer” and lost 25 pounds. “It really helped me with cravings, which I was having a very hard time with,” he said, adding that it pushed him to be “more disciplined with my diet and with working out.”

Dolores Catania
The RHONJ star has been open about using Ozempic and later Mounjaro while navigating menopause and thyroid issues. “When you start the GLP-1s, one of the side effects is nausea,” she shared, noting that staying active was still essential: “You still have to work out…People don’t believe that. I have to be pushed to go.”

Charles Barkley
The NBA legend revealed he used Mounjaro after years of struggling with his weight, saying, “I know GLP-1s work—I’ve seen it for myself.” Barkley has shared he lost more than 50 pounds on the medication and that it’s been “great” for his health and energy.

Meghan Trainor
After her second pregnancy, Trainor told her Instagram followers she leaned on Mounjaro to regain balance in her health routine. “Yes, I used science and support (shoutout to Mounjaro!) to help me after my 2nd pregnancy. And I’m so glad I did because I feel great.” She added, “I’ve been on a journey to be the healthiest, strongest version of myself for my kids and for me.”

Amy Schumer
Although the comedian previously shared that she tried a GLP-1 but couldn’t tolerate the side effects, Schumer later told social media followers that she connected with Midi Health—a company she’s also invested in—to help treat her perimenopause symptoms. She said she was prescribed estrogen and progesterone and added that Mounjaro has been “great.” Since then, Schumer has shared her weight loss and removed some older pre–weight-loss photos from Instagram, explaining that her focus has been on feeling better physically. “I have been working to be pain free and I finally am,” she wrote in a since-deleted post, adding that her endometriosis has improved, her back is healing and she no longer has Cushing syndrome.

Whoopi Goldberg
On The View, Goldberg explained she weighed nearly 300 pounds when filming Till and turned to Mounjaro for help. “One of the things that’s helped me drop the weight was the Mounjaro. That’s what I used,” she said. “I’ve lost almost two people…it’s been really good for me.”

Oprah Winfrey
The TV host and Weight Watchers spokesperson has always been open about her weight loss journey and she revealed in 2023 that she added weight-management medication to her health plan. “Obesity is a disease. It’s not about willpower, it’s about the brain,” she said. Calling it “a gift, not something to hide behind,” she explained, “I now use it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing.”

Vanessa Williams
In an interview with Hello! Magazine, Williams revealed she’s been taking Mounjaro for the past two years, calling it a “game-changer” for navigating menopausal weight gain. After turning 60, she wanted to feel like herself again and “look my best,” especially as her body began changing in ways that felt out of her control despite maintaining the same routine. She also said she started hormone replacement therapy and NAD+ injections, telling the outlet, “Science is amazing.”

Kelly Clarkson
Clarkson clarified that while she is not on Ozempic, she began another prescription after her bloodwork worsened. “Everybody thinks it’s Ozempic, but it’s not. It’s something else,” she said. “Mine is a different [drug] than people assume, but I ended up having to do that too because my bloodwork got so bad.”

Rebel Wilson
Wilson revealed she briefly tried Ozempic after her fertility doctor suggested it. “Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good,” she told The Sunday Times. She also urged young women not to obsess over impossible beauty standards, stressing the importance of health over image.

Jonathan Van Ness
The Queer Eye star has been candid about his use of a GLP-1 to manage a binge-eating disorder. “Alright, I have a confession to make. Yes, I am on a GLP-1 for a weight-loss medication,” he told People. He later shared that he’d lost 66 pounds, crediting the medication along with a healthier diet and Pilates: “My mental health and overall feeling is a different universe since last year.”
