All of the red carpets leading up to the Academy Awards are basically the warm-ups to the most anticipated red carpet of the year. While we can’t wait to see what designer gowns the stars wear, we also take special notice of their hair and makeup looks. Curly haired girls, listen up! Typically, curly Idina Menzel walked the red carpet with sleek, straight hair by celebrity hairstylist Roque using John Frieda products. “Idina has really curly hair and with the rain in Los Angeles today, we wanted to make sure her hair stayed sleek and frizz-free,” said Roque. Here’s how to get the look:
1. Starting with freshly washed, damp hair, create a cocktail of John Frieda Frizz Ease Straight Fixation Styling Crème ($5) and two drops of Frizz Ease Extra Strength Six Effects + Serum ($8) and apply it throughout the hair.
2. Next, create a low side part just over her left eye before blow-drying her hair straight using a Mason Pearson Brush.
3. After the hair is dry, spritz John Frieda Frizz Ease 3-Day Straight Flat Iron Spray ($9) throughout to protect the hair from the heat of the iron.
4. Flat iron the hair in sections and tuck the remainder of the hair on the left side behind the ear and finish with John Frieda Luxurious Volume All Day Hold Hair Spray ($7).
