The problem is that I work out maybe two or three times a week due to time constraints and general laziness—which makes those few times that I do exercise all the more painful. According to the brand, each garment contains a whopping 25 grams of cannabidiol—most beauty products with CBD measure it in milligrams for comparison—strategically placed over major muscles in the body and adhered to the fabric through microencapsulation, a process where layers of CBD molecules are wrapped in a protective coating that slowly breaks and releases them over time. In fact, the brand suggests wearing the clothing 40 times before the effects are gone, at which point you can send the workout gear back to the brand to recycle (and score 30% off your next purchase).
If microencapsulation sounds a little too sci-fi for you (you’re not alone—I was extremely skeptical), this technology has actually been around for a long time—a similar process is behind those fragrance samples that populate magazine pages and companies like Lancôme and Hermès have used it to produce scented scarfs. So I put the Broadway Bike Short ($125) to the test to determine if it delivered what it promised.
And the result? I survived a hip hop class at Brickhouse NYC, a sculpting class at Project Equinox, a yoga sesh with Talia Sutra, trampoline cardio at The Ness and a GNO that involved lots and lots of dancing (these shorts are too cute NOT to wear out on the town)—all with little to no soreness the following days. Seriously.
The line features everything from sports bras to body suits and offers gear that’s sleek, low-maintenance (it’s all machine wash-safe) and loaded with sweet, sweet releaf (get it?).
