In 2009, the beauty world was introduced to a new product it hadn’t seen before: the TEMPTU Airbrush Makeup System, which used special Airpod Technology to apply color cosmetics to the skin in a cutting-edge way. Sephora execs called it a “true makeup revolution.” Since then, the brand has launched other types of airbrush makeup—everything from eye shadow to highlighter—and even a root touch-up formula to help cover gray hair. Now, skin care has entered the mix: meet the TEMPTU Core7 Anti-Aging Hydration Serum ($52).
“Over the years, our clients were jimmy rigging our airbrush device by adding toners or rose water mists, etc. They kept telling us we should do skin care,” says Samantha Mandor, chief creative officer for TEMPTU. “And when the people speak, you must listen.”
The number-one skin-care request they received? An airbrushable primer. “We decided to create a serum that would double as both a primer and a best-in-class skin-care product,” says Mandor. “Our chemist is the head chemist for big skin-care companies, and we infuse our makeup formulas with skin-care ingredients already, so why wouldn’t we give our artists the ultimate prep step?”
The name Core7 comes from the serum’s ability to tackle seven core signs of aging: dryness, wrinkles, lack of firmness, dullness, rough skin, age spots and large pores. Plant-derived fatty acids and phytosterols give skin long-lasting hydration by attracting and trapping moisture; peptides help smooth wrinkles; vitamins C, E and B5 combine to boost collagen while smoothing and brightening skin; and a special complex featuring Enantia Chlorantha tree extract minimizes the appearance of pores.

So how does it work? Just load the pod into your TEMPTU Air device and spray onto your skin the same way you would your airbrush makeup (pros recommend using speed setting 2). “The smaller particle size penetrates the top layer of skin faster than other formulas,” Mandor says. “However, if you like a more tactile experience, the serum is also available in a typical, non-pod bottle ($45), and you can apply it with your hands.”
Celebrity makeup artist Frederick Sanders loves the way the TEMPTU makeup layers over Core7. “It’s the ultimate moisturizing primer. It gives the skin a smooth, natural-looking finish—many people don’t even need makeup afterward, or they’re able to use less than they did before.”
