Teddi Mellencamp is facing another difficult chapter in her health journey. On Wednesday, February 12, the wellness coach and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shared on Instagram that doctors discovered multiple tumors on her brain, requiring urgent surgery.
“For the last several weeks, I’ve been dealing with severe and debilitating headaches,” the post began. “Yesterday the pain was unbearable and required hospitalization. After a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on my brain, which they believe have been growing for at least six months.”
The post continued, “Two of the tumors will be surgically removed today. The remaining smaller tumors will be dealt with via radiation at a later date. I am blessed to be surrounded by my children, family, friends, doctors, nurses and surgeons who are doing everything possible to get me back into better health.
Thank you to everybody who has reached out, and to everyone who has supported me along this journey.”
After posting to her grid, Mellencamp took to her Instagram Story to document a deeply personal moment: her friend shaving her head ahead of surgery. “I’m gonna have this look on my bucket list,” she told viewers. “My best look. I hate to break it to my brother but once I’m allowed to wash my hair and it’s not all spiky, I think I’ve taken you for a run for your money, Hud. I’ll see you tomorrow and we’ll see who wore it best.”
Mellencamp’s lightheartedness is inspiring despite the circumstances. Throughout her ongoing battle with melanoma over the years, she’s been candid about her experience, using social media to encourage followers to stay on top of their health.
