When we’re at the dentist’s office for our hygiene visits, going through the motions of our appointment feels like second nature. While this memorized process makes our routine visits that much easier, Wellington, FL cosmetic dentist Sam S. Sadati, DDS says every patient’s smile deserves its own unique attention when it comes to a smile makeover. For him, a “routine” visit does not exist, especially with the digital design software that he incorporated into his practice.
What is a cosmetic smile makeover?
A smile makeover is used to enhance ones smile through cosmetic dentistry to find the best look for each individual’s unique face, lips and frame of smile. The reality is this: In order to see the best results from a smile makeover, you really have to put the time into analyzing their face and smile shape by taking a lot of records and performing a diagnostic wax-up, etc. Some people have a bigger frame of smile and require more teeth to be enhanced or changed to get the best final result. Depending on each patient’s desire, the appointment could be a longer duration, but if the patient has a simple request like an enhancement of their natural tooth or teeth whitening, the procedure can be really quick. It all depends on what is needed or desired for the smile to be adjusted.
What is the biggest complaint patients have when they come in for a smile makeover?
the biggest complaint I hear from patients is that they don’t have the smile they want to have. So, either they want a bigger smile, a whiter smile, or their teeth are dark and crooked. Basically, patients want to have something that is wider and brighter, and they aren’t confident with the way their smile currently looks. Oftentimes, in order to accomplish a patient’s most desired smile, we will use Digital Smile Design.
What is Digital Smile Design?
For Digital Smile Design, we have to take several pictures of the patient’s smile and face and upload it to a software that re-imagines their mouth and shape of their smile. The software will analyze the pictures while considering the shape of the face, lips and to design the new shape, size and arrangement of the teeth that fits their mouth and overall face. Then, I make the final changes and adjustments based on my patient’s personality, age, preferences, etc. This is the most realistic teeth imaging software that we’ve ever had. We can actually recreate and design the entire smile for a patient before they go through with the procedure so they can experience the changes in their mouth before they even happen.
Can the patient alter any of the imaging done with Digital Smile Design?
If you don’t like the blueprint of your new smile, we can make changes to it so it’s as customizable as possible. Once we ensure that the patient is happy with their blueprint, we can then make temporary or provisional teeth for the patient to wear before the smile makeover so they can get used to their new smile for a week or two and adjust anything needed before the final smile is fabricated by the ceramist.
