Whether you’re on a hair repair journey, looking for silkier strands or trying to foster better scalp health, no one does hair care like OLAPLEX. Coming off a major rebrand, OLAPLEX has a whole new look, but the salon-quality, science-backed formulas you know and love are here to stay. Emphasizing its already inherent star power, the iconic bond-repairing hair-care brand just released a new, hair-health focused campaign—Designed to Defy—starring Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan, fashion expert and former RHONY Jenna Lyons and Olympian sprinter Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. Ahead, everything you need to know about the utterly iconic campaign.
Designed to Defy: Olaplex’s Star-Studded New Endeavor
Olaplex’s latest campaign initiative, Designed to Defy, is—as the brand puts it—”an expression of the confidence that OLAPLEX has embodied from day one—the boldness to create a revolutionary molecule with the power to transform hair health.” To fully embody the importance of the confidence Olaplex’s science-backed products give consumers, the brand tapped reality TV, film and sports legends to talk about their hair health journeys and what being “designed to defy” means to them.

Showcased in the brand’s short film, Nicola Coughlan, Jenna Lyons and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone team up with their personal, expert hairstylists to display the true power of healthy hair. And the stars Olaplex chose have their own histories with the legacy brand. “I first started using OLAPLEX on the set of Derry Girls because, for continuity, I had to dye my hair much more frequently than I would in real life,” Coughlan says. “That’s when I was introduced to No. 3, and it quickly became a staple in my routine. I’ve been using it ever since!”
For Olympian McLaughlin-Levrone, the campaign helped her celebrate and embrace what her natural hair means to her. “The shooting of the campaign was really fun getting to show off my curls, something that I wasn’t always confident in growing up,” she says. “It’s truly a joy to now embrace my natural hair and appreciate it for what it is. Feeling confident in my hair when I walk out the door every morning just gives me a sense of joy. Even if it’s not the most complex look, just knowing that my hair is healthy encourages me to attack the day.”
