I’m not usually one to go for liquid blush (I love a good cream), but Morphe’s adorable little Hot Shot Blush Drops were calling my name. Maybe I came for the tiny, ergonomic packaging (very aesthetically pleasing), but I stayed for the formula. Here’s what I love about this blush and how it gave me plump, “Hot Girl Summer” cheeks in seconds.

The Benefits of This Liquid Blush

Morphe’s Blush Drops are water-based, super light on the skin and haven’t made me break out. They have a slight pearlescent finish, which catches the light on the cheeks in a really pretty way. One of my favorite parts about the formula is its ability to boost hydration in the skin for eight hours. This is thanks to an advanced moisture complex containing sodium PCA, sodium hyaluronate and urea. Even when my skin was a little dry, this blush didn’t get patchy, which I appreciate.

Another big benefit is how buildable this liquid blush is on the skin. When I went back in to add more (even a couple hours later), it layered well and increased in intensity. This makes it a great option for day-to-night wear. You can start with a sheer wash of color for work and then graduate to a bolder, girls-night-out look when the sun sets. It comes in five shades, from watermelon red to soft apricot. Morphe also launched Bronzer Drops (in six shades) alongside this blush, and the two work together nicely if you’re a fan of liquid bronzer.

Key Ingredients

Natural algae, niacinamide, glycerin, vitamins B5 and E, and sodium hyaluronate

How to Use Them

A little goes a really long way with this blush, which you will learn the first time you use it. As Morphe recommends, I like to squeeze a little dot of blush onto the back of my hand, rub it in, and then use a brush to pick up the blush from there. That way, I can control how much I’m putting on my skin. If you squeeze the applicator right onto your cheek you may get too much, however, that might be the look you’re going for. It’s a really buildable formula and easy to achieve a bolder, more intense look if you’re feeling it. Also, remember to shake it up before using it too.

Morphe says you can also add a drop into your moisturizer to add a flush of color that way. And lastly, the brand also suggests topping the Blush Drops with powder blush for a more intense finish.
