We’ve been anticipating Miley Cyrus’ look for the 2025 Grammy Awards pretty much since the day after the 2024 Grammys. Cyrus stunned last year with sky-high ‘80s-era hair during her rockstar performance of her hit song “Flowers.” This year Cyrus’ hair is just as jaw-dropping with a whole new cut—the jellyfish haircut, to be exact.

Cyrus wore her hair sleek and straight, which helps her chunky highlights stand out. Her blunt bangs help to make the jellyfish haircut look a bit smoother.

While the jellyfish haircut may feel like a bold choice for the average person, celebrities love turning to it to make a statement. Gwen Stefani famously wore the style last fall, and Lady Gaga sported a more subtle version at the 2025 Grammys as well. Is this the next big, bold hair trend?

If you’re not familiar with the jellyfish haircut, it’s characterized by choppy layers up top with full-length hair beneath, which is reminiscent of the sea creature.

“The top layer is cut short like a bowl cut, representing the body of a jellyfish,” celebrity hairstylist Ashley Gomila previously told NewBeauty. “The bottom layer is left long, mimicking the tentacles. This striking contrast creates a dramatic, edgy look that’s perfect for those seeking a unique style.”
