Yes, you’ve seen everything—and it’s in the form of this jaw-dropping Instagram leg-contouring video.

Shared by HudaBeauty via Makeup By Meri (@makeupmeri), who says it was inspired by her son’s anatomy book, the quick-vid tutorial uses Estée Lauder Bronzer, Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit, MAC Prep + Prime Fix+, a whole bunch of brushes and strategically placed tiger-like lines of makeup to create the illusion of slimmer legs.

So should you try it? “I am all for spray-tanning and lunges to keep our legs looking lean and mean for summer, but this is taking it a little bit too far,” says Lori Leib, creative director at Bodyography Professional Cosmetics. “Not only would this require a friend to help you apply, but also a huge amount of product and you wouldn’t be able to sit down all day! All in all, I would suggest a body bronzer or tinted moisturizer to give your legs a flawless look—this is just too much work!”

“Why would anyone do this for real life? Another example of ridiculous fodder for the ‘audience,’” says celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff. “On set and on red carpets a little body makeup, or a tinted lotion, goes a long way. There is always a risk of rubbing makeup off on clothing, but this is other level. Imagine the dry cleaning bills? Imagine how every place you sit will be covered in makeup, and the smudgey mess that will be left behind on your legs. This is getting out of control!”

Svetlana Feller, Kate Hudson’s tanning artist and founder of Spray di Sole, says an easier—and less-messy—solution is to use sunless tanner as your sculpting tool. “Tan over the contours on your calves and outside the inner and outer thighs for more toned-looking legs.”
