Did Kylie Jenner boost her bust?
Inquiring minds have been dying to know since January 7 when the 17-year-old posted a photo captioned “Secret Projects” to her Instagam account. We’re pretty sure the caption doesn’t refer to her noticeably larger (possibly new) breasts, there’s no denying the irony.
To get to the bottom of Kylie’s top half, we sought the professional opinion of Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Sanjay Grover, MD (who has not treated Kylie).
“It looks quite apparent that she’s had a breast enlargement,” says Dr. Grover. “Given her age, it’s very unlikely that she would have that much of a difference in upper fullness and significant cleavage in such a short period of time. It’s not an unnatural look, it’s just an unlikely look for her to change [naturally] in such a short period of time.”
Kylie herself said her added ampleness was the product of a push-up bra, Dr. Grover actually says the lack of supportive undergarment in Kylie’s most recent photo is evidence of an augmentation. “It doesn’t look like she’s wearing an excessively supportive bra, so it would be unlikely to achieve that fullness and roundness without the benefit of an implant.”
Dr. Grover says that even though 17 is a young age for a breast augmentation, it’s not unheard of for teens to seek out the procedure. “In general, saline breast augmentation is approved for patients 18 years and older, unless it’s for reconstructive purposes,” he explains. “Many surgeons are hesitant to perform [the procedure] on somebody under 18, but it can be done ‘off-label’ with parental consent.”
And while Kylie’s fuller figure is the newest hot topic in the rumor mill, her mouth has been the talk for quite some time. The youngest member of the Kardashian/Jenner clan has been sporting larger, more luscious lips of late. Once the Internet caught sight of her smile, speculation began that Kylie had received cosmetic lip service.
Kylie claims she’s mastered the art of lip liner, but Dr. Grover suggests Kylie’s pout points to the use of injections. “There’s an obvious difference between [the] before and after,” he says. “When you look at the difference between [pictures from] 2013 and 2015, it’s not typical for somebody to have that kind of change in such a short period of time. It seems she’s had some type of filler. Typically we use a hyaluronic acid gel such as Juvéderm or Restylane.”
Starting lip injections young is not uncommon and can even lead to naturally fuller lips over time. “In the long term, you’ll see some neocollagen growth and scar tissue build up, so you will actually need less fillers over time.”
Take a look at the before-and-after shots and tell us what you think. Did Kylie add a little oomph to her lips and breasts, or are her fuller assets the work of makeup and a good bra?
