If you’ve ever wandered down the beverage aisle of Whole Foods, you’ve seen kombucha. This fermented tea has long been a staple with the health-conscious set thanks to its purported wellness-promoting properties. (Among them: thinning hair, gallstones, circulation issues, menopausal symptoms, digestion and liver problems… name an ailment and there’s most likely an argument to say kombucha will cure it.)

But, what is kombucha? It’s a fermented beverage made by adding a symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast to brewed black tea sweetened with sugar. And, if that’s not a delightful enough description to get you onboard, how about this: It tastes like vinegar.

So, while celebs like Gwenyth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon and Halle Berry can’t drink enough of the stuff, we’re happy to report imbibing in kombucha isn’t the only way to see its benefits. In fact, a slew of new beauty products have recently launched, all touting its beautifying capabilities.

The list of topical accolades for kombucha include: anti-aging, skin tightening, moisturizing, skin brightening and the ability to boost your pH levels.

From products making use of its moisture-rich qualities (try Juara Sweet Black Tea and Rice Facial Moisturizer, $49), to those that flaunt its anti-aging properties (emerginC peptide booster serum, $85), kombucha is primed to make the move from your fridge your medicine cabinet.
