SAG Award nominee Kerri Russell looked ultra chic in a black Zuhair Murad dress at the 2025 ceremony. The 48-year-old is nominated for Best TV Drama Actress for her role in The Diplomat. From her smokey eye to her tousled hair, the look felt like glam with an edge.

Russell’s makeup look was inspired by her black gown. “I wanted to create a modern, edgy eye look, focusing on the black and silver tones to the eyes,” says celebrity makeup artist Tina Turnbow, who used Beauty Pie for the entire look, from her impeccable complexion to her smokey eye.

Celebrity hairstylist Brian Magallones, who has been behind a handful of Russell’s award season looks, was the master behind the voluminous ‘do she sported at the SAG Awards. “The dress had such a sleek, classic look, but I wanted to bring Brooklyn to Hollywood and give it a modern edge, so I decided to keep her hair down with a simple, tousled wave, going for healthy hair with lots of fullness and movement.,” says Magallones. “The look I was going for was effortless, not fussy at all.”

Magallones shares a pro tip for achieving fullness and volume—always start with freshly shampooed and conditioned hair. “Day old or dirty hair does nothing but weigh hair down. For full, voluminous hair, it’s best to use products that do not have any silicone, as it will only weigh hair down and make it appear greasy, especially with fine hair,” he adds.

While Russell has a lot of hair, Magallones notes that the individual strands are fine, which can make hair heavy and flat, which is where products come in. After a fresh shampoo and conditioning moment, Magallones ran a nickel-sized amount of Living Proof Full Thickening Blow-Dry Cream ($32) through her damp hair then “dried it using a large round bristle brush to smooth out the cuticle, and it really made her hair shine with lots of thickness and volume.”

Once her curly hair was blow-dried straight, Magallones used a curling iron to create a light wave by wrapping two-inch sections of hair around it and spraying with Living Proof Style Lab Flex Hairspray ($32) along the way. “After curling her hair, I lightly sprayed Living Proof Dry Volume Texture Spray ($36) throughout her hair and shook out the waves to give it a tousled, sexy vibe,” says Magallones. To seal in the look, Magallones ran a drop of Living Proof No Frizz Vanishing Oil ($33) through Russell’s hair to prevent frizz and promote shine.
