Not to quote Taylor Swift’s Red tour shirt, but it’s safe to say that Kelly Clarkson has got a lot going on right now. From her cross-country move to the fifth season of her talk show and the release of her chart-topping tenth studio album, the 41-year-old mom of two is truly having a moment right now. With plenty of on-screen appearances promoting her various new endeavors, fans have also been enthralled by the singer’s new look. Having lost a lot of weight throughout her career, Clarkson’s weight loss journey is one she’s been candid about, but as of late, her even slimmer figure has fans buzzing over the star’s confident, fierce new look.

Kelly Clarkson’s Weight Loss Journey: How Clarkson Went About Her Transformation

Kelly Clarkson has been in the eyes of the public for quite literally decades, ever since she made her big break as the winner of American Idol in 2002. Now, more than 20 years, 10 albums and 2 kids later, Kelly Clarkson has had quite the journey. Back in 2018, fans first began to notice that the singer had appeared to lose weight, and Clarkson was more than open about her journey towards a healthier life. The singer admitted to being diagnosed with a thyroid condition back in 2006, and had struggled with the side effects of the disease compounded with the stressors of every day life, making weight loss no easy feat.

How Clarkson Lost the Weight: The Importance of Diet and Health in Her Journey

After discovering a clean, organic diet and going off her thyroid medication, Kelly Clarkson’s weight loss happened all on her own. “I know the industry loves the weight gone, but for me it wasn’t [about] the weight,” Clarkson confessed to Hoda Kotb back in 2018. “For me, it was, ‘I’m not on my medicine anymore.'”

Nowadays, the star is slimmer than ever, and has been wow-ing fans in chic, black ensembles and sporting her healthiest, happiest self. Though we don’t know just how the singer has went about her more recent weight loss endeavors, while rocking lengthy blonde strands, a strong physique and a glowing complexion all over social media and television as of late, it’s clear that Kelly Clarkson is truly in her element, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.

What the Star Is Doing Now to Stay Fit and Healthy

Just recently, in interviews with People and TODAY, the singer revealed the key components that contributed to her health transformation, one of which being her cross-country move to New York City. In her cover story interview with People, Clarkson explained that moving to the big apple totally transformed her wellness routine, and went on to tell TODAY that a big part of that transformation comes on account of the fact that “walking in the city is quite the workout.” Additionally, the mom of two explained to TODAY that “I’m really into infrared saunas right now. And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down.”

She went on to reveal to TODAY that “I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor—a couple years I didn’t,” she said, “And 90 percent of the time I’m really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway. I’m a Texas girl, so I like meat—sorry, vegetarians in the world!” But, at the end of the day, while wellness practices and a protein-rich diet have been revolutionary, the singer affirms that balance is key. “I still splurge,” she told the outlet, “The other night I had a frozen yogurt with my daughter, and it was magical.”
