Joey King just debuted the perfect nail look for summer. The 24-year-old actress attended the Despicable Me 4 premiere at the Rose Theater on Sunday, June 9, in New York City, wearing a mint green Sportmax dress. To complement the Spring-Summer 2024 silhouette, celebrity nail artist Elle Gerstein dreamt up an eye-catching nail look to match, blending two highly coveted trends: the modern French manicure and the mesmerizing chrome effect.
The Kissing Booth star’s French manicure featured a classic pink sheer base with pastel green French tips to match her dress, finished with the trendy chrome effect. “Pastel colors being used for texture are trending right now,” said Gerstein. “The chrome gave it a mint green shimmer and combined with the French tip, it mimicked her Sportmax dress, which had a different texture on the top and bottom. This gave it a matchy mint vibe between her nails and her outfit.”

How to recreate King’s frosted French manicure:
STEP 1: Perfect your base
Gerstein started with the Madam Glam Builder Gel in Sheer Pink, followed by Madam Glam Gel in Dusty Pastel Green for King’s French tips.
Step 2: Apply top coat and cure
Next, she applied the Madam Glam No Wipe Top Coat over the entire nail before curing each one with a UV lamp.
Step 3: Add the chrome effect
As the final step, Gerstein reached for the Laza Mermaid Chrome Powder in Green. The nail artist rubbed the powder onto the nail for a chrome effect, before resealing the nail with the Madam Glam No Wipe Top Coat. Gerstein warns that if you don’t seal the nail after this step, “you’ll lose the chrome effect.” An extra pro tip from Gerstein: “For chrome longevity, underneath I file the bottom of her nails then use a little primer on the rough area and then apply the final coat of top coat,” she said. “This way it seals it even tighter.”
King’s not the only star to match her nails to her outfit recently. On Monday, June 10, Blake Lively stepped out for Chanel’s Tribeca Festival Artists Dinner in New York City with a monogrammed Chanel manicure that harmonized flawlessly with her colorful pantsuit from the label’s Spring-Summer 2024 collection.
These trendsetting moves from both King and Lively aren’t just stylish choices; they’re statements worth emulating for all the major events on your summer calendar.
