For Los Angeles–based celebrity hairstylist Laura Rugetti, the day-to-day of running a not-so-standard salon (the can’t-miss-it mobile-vintage airstream, The Beauty Can), working with a BIG roster of celeb clients (Denise Richards, Christine Quinn, Hailie Sahar, Delilah Belle Hamlin and Amelia Gray Hamlin round out the list, to name a few), and being a working mom doesn’t always have a whole lot of common denominators.
“They are all so different! But I would have to say running a hair salon is the hardest—I have 20 employees and own it by myself. I cannot do it without the help of my amazing assistant, Kim, and my salon manager, Lisa.” Rugetti recently shared with us the number-one piece of advice that keeps her “creative juices going” and her energy levels up—”there’s always obstacles, but women are superheroes and you can do anything you put your mind to”—as well as the products she’s never without for creating those Insta-worthy and red carpet–stealing looks.
In the Kit:
“A couple of products and tools I can’t live without are my Hidden Crown Clips-Ins (starting at $99), GHD irons (starting at $199), GHD round brushes, UNITE Lé:Play Hairspray ($29.50), Color Wow Dream Coat ($28), and my Sheila Stotts brushes.”
By Request:
“Honestly, a lot of my clients like me to use Elnett Hairspray ($15) by L’Oréal. It’s super reasonable and really has the best hold for a hairspray.”
Look Book:
“One of my most favorite, all-time looks I’ve ever done was Denise Richards’ bombshell hair.”
Secret Stash:
“I’m into big hair. The secret is lots of hair extensions!”
