Jane Krakowski, the co-star of NBC’s former hit series, 30 Rock, looks absolutely ravishing these days. Every time we see this funny lady on the red carpet, we can’t help but smile and also envy her long, gorgeous blonde hair. However, this hasn’t always been the case. One internet image search later and it’s revealed that Jane was once a victim of massive 80s hair, proving Miss Krakowski has come along way with her style.

Seen here at the 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, you’d never guess she had such an unfortunate hair past. Her hairstylist, Creighton Bowman created this romantic textured chignon and side-swept bangs because they were “going for a young, modern twist on a classic Grace Kelly style,” he says. Whatever the inspiration was, we love it. Here is how he created it for Jane.

1. To prep Jane’s hair for styling, Bowman applied a straightening gel from roots to ends on towel-dried hair to smooth it and protect it from heat. Next, he added a mousse to the roots for volume and structure.

2. “Using a medium round brush, I gave Jane’s hair a basic round brush blow-out with a messy deep side part,” says Bowman. To give her hair texture, “I first put in random curls with a ½ inch curling iron. Then I broke up the curl pattern with a flat iron and sprayed her hair with René Furterer NATURIA dry shampoo ($24) to give it an undone texture.”

3. “Next, I pulled Jane’s hair into a low loose ponytail. The ponytail was wrapped into a loose chignon with a few stray pieces before it was secured into place with hairpins.”

4. Finally, he finished with a few spritz of hairspray to hold everything in place and give it great shine.
